On Monday 17th July, the Enterprise and Innovation team embarked on an away day to boost morale and socialise outside of the workplace.
The morning started off with a treasure hunt devised by Steve Jones, Head of Partnerships & Philanthropy at OCRA. It was themed around historical landmarks and hidden gems that can be found around Portsea, Gunwharf Quays, Old Portsmouth and Southsea. Participants were split into two teams of three – Professor Joan Farrer, Emma Jones and Joni Rhodes were pitted against Dr Cressida Bowyer, Toby Meredith and Charlie Iceton. The task was to work out cryptic clues and take a selfie with the landmark as evidence.
After a couple of hours hunting, the team took some time to rest at The White Horse where it was announced that Professor Farrer’s team were the victors after Steve posted the answers on Twitter.
Next, it was time for the team to put on their golfing gloves for a game of crazy golf by Southsea common. It was quickly realised that no one was a pro golfer, therefore there was a very laid back approach to the official rules adopted.
The PONToon Celebration evening took place from 5:30 pm at Mozerella Joes where PONTooners and HotHouse participants were invited to toast the PONToon project which has recently been approved by the Interreg 5A Channel Programme (Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund).
“It was a fantastic day away from the office and a really nice way to end my placement with the Enterprise and Innovation team.”
– Charlie Iceton, Enterprise and Innovation Ambassador 16/17
The team would like to say a big thank you to Steve Jones for creating the morning treasure hunt, and Emma Jones for organising the day. We would also like to thank everyone who came along to celebrate the approval of the PONToon project.
